Terms & Conditions
The short version: be kind, respect the photos, don't break things.

1. Who we are
Spotlyt ("Spotlyt", "we", "us") provides online photo galleries for events, including an optional face-search feature, available at spotlyt.app(the "Service"). These terms apply to everyone who uses the Service — event organisers who commission a gallery ("Organisers") and guests who browse one ("Guests").
2. Accepting these terms
By accessing a Spotlyt gallery or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
3. Access codes
- Galleries are protected by access codes intended for the event's attendees and their families.
- Don't share access codes publicly (social media, forums, or anywhere the whole internet hangs out).
- We may rotate or revoke access codes at any time, including at an Organiser's request.
4. The photos
- Photos in a gallery remain the property of the photographer and/or the event Organiser. Spotlyt does not claim any ownership of them.
- Galleries are for personal use: browsing, shortlisting, and downloading photos of yourself and your group for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Commercial use, resale, or republication of photos requires permission from the photographer or Organiser — not from us.
- If you appear in a photo and would like it removed from a gallery, contact us at privacy@spotlyt.appand we'll action it promptly.
5. Face search
- Face search is optional. When you upload a selfie, it is used solely to find your matches in that gallery and is processed in memory — it is never stored. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
- Only upload a photo of yourself, or of someone who has asked you to and given their permission.
- Face matching is probabilistic. It's very good, but a stray lookalike in your results is a feature of mathematics, not a statement about your face.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to harass, stalk, or harm anyone;
- attempt to scrape, bulk-download, or mirror galleries, or to circumvent access controls or rate limits;
- probe, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure;
- use the Service for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who breaches these terms.
7. Organiser commissions
Specific deliverables, pricing, and timelines for commissioned galleries are agreed per event in writing (email counts). Unless agreed otherwise, galleries remain online for the period agreed with the Organiser, after which they may be taken down and associated data deleted.
8. Availability & changes
We aim for the Service to be fast and reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We'll be sensible about it.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spotlyt will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer law that cannot be excluded.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
